Magizh Thirumeni's much-anticipated film Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan, will not hit the screens as planned for Pongal 2025. The news was announced by Lyca Productions on X (formerly Twitter), leaving fans disheartened.

Lyca Productions shared the update with a note that read:

“Wishing everyone a happy, joyous New Year! Due to unavoidable circumstances, our film Vidaamuyarchi will not be releasing on Pongal day. We wish all our fans and well-wishers a prosperous year ahead.”

The post was captioned: “Kindly stay tuned for further updates! The wait will be worth it!” This announcement came as a surprise to fans who were eagerly awaiting the film's release during the festive season.

The delay has sparked disappointment among Ajith Kumar's fans, who flooded Lyca Productions' comment section with reactions.

One fan wrote, “This is a humble petition from all #AjithKumar fans to permanently ban @LycaProductions from India,” tagging prominent leaders like PM Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin. Another remarked, “Poor planning from Lyca.”

Some fans expressed their frustration with the timing of the announcement. “At least you should have told this after a few days; you just spoiled AK fan's New Year celebration mood,” commented a disappointed fan.

Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions, Vidaamuyarchi features an ensemble cast, including Arjun Sarja, Arav, Regina Cassandra and Ramya Subramanian.

The film is rumoured to be inspired by the 1997 Hollywood thriller Breakdown, directed by Jonathan Mostow. Interestingly, Vignesh Shivan was initially set to direct the project, with Nayanthara as the female lead. Recently, the production team released a song titled Sawadeeka, which has been well-received by fans and music enthusiasts alike.
