Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 after she made it to the finals in wrestling in the 50kgs category. The decision of her disqualification was taken as she was 150 grams overweight and the news has made every Indian heartbroken. Her fans and well-wishers took to social media to show their support and called her 'champion'. Several Bollywood stars including Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal also showed their support after Vinesh Phogat's disqualification.

Alia Bhatt wrote, "Vinesh Phogat you are an inspiration to the entire nation. Nothing can take away your resilience, nothing can take away your courage and nothing can take away the hardships you've been through to create history! Today you must be heartbroken to say the least and we are heartbroken with you. But woman you are gold- you are iron and you are steel! Nothing can take that away from you! A champion for the ages! There is no one like you."

Vicky Kaushal posted, "A winner beyond medals!"

Farhan Akhtar wrote, "Dear @vineshphogat .. One can only try and imagine how devastated you must be but still not fully understand. Heartbroken for you that the quest ended like this. According to reports, Vinesh Phogat has been hospitalised after she fainted due to dehydration.

She had defeated Japan's Yui Susaki in the round of 16, Ukraine’s Oksana Livach in the quarterfinals and Cuba’s Yusleylis Guzman Lopez in the semi-finals. If not disqualified, she would have become the only the second Indian female wrestler after Sakshi Malik to win an Olympic medal. She had to exit the game in the previous Olympics appearances in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Last year, she was one of the protesters against Brij Bhushan Sharna Singh and was one of the country's biggest medal contenders, who could have won the first gold medal at the Olympics. She also underwent knee surgery and because of this, she had to pull out from the Asian Games.
