Warrant Issued Against Bollywood Actress Ameesha Patel In Cheque Bounce Case

Bollywood actress, Ameesha Patel and her business partner Krunal have been issued a warrant by a civil court in Ranchi in relation to a case involving fraud and bouncing of cheques.

Ajay Kumar Singh, who is a movie producer hailing from Jharkhand, filed a legal complaint accusing Patel and her partner of fraud, intimidation, and issuing a bounced cheque.

The court expressed its discontent as the actress failed to uphold her position in court despite being summoned. Neither she nor her lawyer showed up for the hearing. The case will be heard again on April 15.

The actress has been charged with sections 420 and 120 of the CrPC, following a complaint by Ajay Kumar Singh. Singh alleged that the actress and her business partner received an amount of Rs 2.5 crore from him for producing and promoting a film called Desi Magic.

Ajay Kumar claimed that Patel and her business partner promised to repay the sum with interest after the production of the movie. The filming for Desi Magic commenced in 2013, but the movie hasn't been released yet. When Kumar inquired about his funds from Ameesha, she failed to refund him.

Despite numerous postponements, she issued two cheques, one for Rs 2.5 crore and another for Rs 50 lakh, to him in October 2018, which were returned due to insufficient funds.

Patel, who was born in Mumbai, is said to have finished her schooling at Cathedral and John Cannon High School in Bombay. She earned an economics degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts, US. Reportedly, Patel had a passion for arts from a young age and had not planned to pursue acting as a profession.

However, actor-director Rakesh Roshan later persuaded her to consider acting by offering her a role in his film, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. Patel's overnight fame came with the massive success of her debut film, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

Although Ameesha is not frequently seen in movies nowadays, she still has an enormous fan following throughout the country. She received immense praise from her fans for her roles in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. After a short absence from the film industry, she made her television debut through Bigg Boss 13, where she was cast as the 'Malkin of the house' by the show's creators.
