Yoo Yeon Seok, known for his stellar performance in the popular K-drama When the Phone Rings, recently shared his thoughts on marriage and the importance of communication. In a heartfelt interview, he reflected on his role in the show and the lessons he learned from working alongside co-star Chae Soo Bin.
During an interview on January 6, 2025, at Starship Entertainment’s headquarters in Seoul, Yoo Yeon Seok was asked about his views on marriage. The actor revealed that while he has considered marriage, he has yet to meet the right person. He emphasized that strong communication is key to a successful relationship, a value he holds dear. His experience working on When the Phone Rings further reinforced the significance of open and honest communication.

In the drama, Yoo Yeon Seok plays Baek Sa Eon, a character in a marriage of convenience with Chae Soo Bin’s Hong Hui Ju. Their relationship is marked by silence and distance, with no meaningful conversations or shared meals. Despite this, they maintain the appearance of a happy couple. Through this portrayal, Yoo Yeon Seok came to appreciate the importance of truly connecting with a partner.
The K-drama, based on the web novel The Number You Have Dialed by Geon Eomul Nyeo, explores the complexities of a distant marriage. As Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin’s chemistry captivated viewers, the show gained significant popularity among K-drama fans.
In addition to his acting, Yoo Yeon Seok also contributed to the drama’s OST with the song Say My Name. The actor is now preparing for his upcoming fan concert tour, THE SECRET CODE: Y, which begins in Seoul on January 18, 2024. The tour will visit international cities such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Taipei.
