Who Is Santosh Kumar RS? Filmmaker Who Accused Dhurandhar 2 Makers Of Copying His Script

While the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar: The Revenge shatters box office records, surpassing Rs 1,400 crore in just two weeks, it has also sparked a massive legal controversy. At the centre of this storm is Santosh Kumar RS, a filmmaker from Thirthahalli, Karnataka, who alleged that Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster film Dhurandhar 2 script was stolen from his original work.

Film director Santosh Kumar RS revealed that he realised the similarities only after watching Dhurandhar 2. He stated that the storyline shown in the film closely matches the script he had created with significant effort in 2023. According to him, the discovery left him shocked and disappointed.

During a press conference, he said, "You’ve probably seen the movie Dhurandhar 2, which is a big hit right now. However, after watching it, I realised the movie is actually my story and script. I worked incredibly hard on it back in 2023. I shared it with several big companies because I was told that to get famous actors, I needed a major studio behind me.”

He explained that he had shared his script with several production houses, such as Sony Pictures, Zee Studios, T-Series, and Dharma Productions, while trying to develop the project on a bigger scale. He also revealed initially that he had imagined Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role.

Who Is Santosh Kumar RS?

Santosh Kumar RS is an Indian filmmaker from Thirthahalli in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. He started his journey with the Kannada films Bindaas Googly (2018) and Campus Kranti (2023), where he worked as a writer and director. He is also working on an upcoming pan-India action thriller titled Yuvan Robinhood, expected to release in 2026, where he serves as both director and producer.

Script Registration And Proof

The filmmaker said he registered his script with the Screenwriters Association in November 2023 and has email records to prove ownership. Expressing his frustration, he said he has planned to take legal action against the film, claiming his work was misused. While he acknowledged the movie’s success, he believes such issues are common in the industry and wants to raise awareness.
