In 2019, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had expressed his desire to avoid controversies because he believed they divert the audience's attention from his professional accomplishments to his personal life. The 48-year-old actor had admitted to being apprehensive about getting involved in controversies and instead wanted to focus solely on his work.

"I am just the same person. I am an actor and I just want to work. I just want to act. I don't want to talk about anyone and what is happening in my personal life. I don't want people to focus on that,'' he had told PTI.

However, despite his exceptional acting skills, Siddiqui has frequently made headlines for all the wrong reasons over the years. After rising to prominence following his role in the 2012 film Gangs of Wasseypur, Siddiqui has been involved in several controversies, particularly in the aftermath of his former wife Aaliya's shocking accusations against him.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Aaliya Siddiqui Dispute:

Aaliya has accused him of cheating on her and of forcing her and their children out of their home, resulting in both Nawazuddin and Aaliya being the subjects of numerous startling news stories.

Sharing a video featuring herself and her children on Instagram, she wrote, "I have been forced to live, sleep and utilise only the hall, at my own husband's house, since the past 7 days. My children who have just arrived from Dubai are sleeping with me by joining two sofa sets in the Hall.

"I somehow managed to take bath in a small toilet meant for guests. No food, no sleep and on top of that security guards are put all around me. Now, even cameras are installed and every move is monitored.

“No peace and no privacy. All seven bedrooms are locked by my inlaws, and my husband Nawazuddin Siddiqui is not traceable to protect me or even stand up for me.”

Aaliya also claimed that her in-laws prevented her legal team from visiting her, stating that her lawyer was not allowed to obtain her signature for court documents. She voiced her frustration at the continued harassment she was experiencing from her in-laws and expressed her hope for justice.

On March 20, Nawazuddin filed a defamation lawsuit against Aaliya and his brother Shamasuddin in the Bombay High Court that demanded a written apology from them along with Rs 100 crore in damages.

The lawsuit alleged that Aaliya and Shamasuddin had made false and damaging comments about the actor, and asked the court to prohibit them from making any similar statements in the future. Additionally, Nawazuddin had accused his ex-wife and brother of unlawfully taking Rs 21 crore from him.

According to the lawsuit, Shamasuddin, who was hired by Nawazuddin as his manager in 2008, to look after his finances, committed fraud and deceit against the actor. Furthermore, the lawsuit states that when Shamasuddin was confronted about the property scam, he encouraged Aaliya to make false accusations against Nawazuddin. Additionally, the two collaborated to extort the actor by posting inappropriate videos and comments on social media.

However, on March 27, it was reported that Nawazuddin is now willing to settle the legal matter just days after filing the defamation lawsuit against Aaliya and Shamasuddin.

As per a report by Etimes, on March 23, discussions about a potential settlement began after Nawazuddin's lawyer informed the High Court that he was prepared to withdraw his habeas corpus petition and resolve the legal matters with Aaliya, on the condition that the actor could have access to his two children.

Now, as per latest reports, Aaliya has confirmed that the chaos in their personal life will soon end as their divorce proceedings have begun and that she hasn't responded to Nawazuddin's proposed settlement yet as she plans to fight for custody of both of their children.

In the past as well, Nawazuddin's personal life has been mired in controversies due to his candid disclosures about his relationships with former girlfriends, which resulted in negative consequences for him.

Complaint filed against Nawazuddin Siddiqui in NCW:

In 2017, Nawazuddin faced criticism from his Miss Lovely co-star Niharika Singh for his derogatory attitude towards women and for publishing details about her without her permission.

Following this, his first girlfriend, theatre artist Sunita Rajwar, also spoke out against him. She accused him of lying outrightly to boost the sales of his autobiography An Ordinary Life in a lengthy Facebook post. As a result of the extensive backlash, the actor had to ultimately pull his book from circulation.

Tweeting an apology on micro-blogging site, the Babumoshai Bandookbaaz actor wrote, ''I m apologising 2 every1 who's sentiments r hurt bcz of d chaos around my memoir #AnOrdinaryLife I hereby regret & decide 2 withdraw my book."

Nawazuddin's decision to withdraw his book was prompted by news that a complaint had been filed against him. The National Commission for Women had received a complaint alleging that he had violated Niharika Singh's modesty.

An advocate in Delhi had reportedly filed a complaint with the NCW against Nawazuddin after Niharikaa Singh and Sunita Rajwar, had disputed the claims made by Siddiqui about his relationships. The complaint accused Siddiqui of "outraging the modesty" of Singh.

According to a report by mid-day, Gautam Gulati, who lodged the complaint, stated that Siddiqui was married while having an affair with Singh and kept her uninformed. Gulati requested that an FIR be registered under sections 376, 497, and 509 of the IPC and also stated that he has no personal involvement with Singh and has not spoken to her regarding the matter.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui CDR Scam:

In 2018, Nawazuddin had purportedly obtained Call Data Records (CDRs) of his spouse's phone using an attorney and hiring a private investigator to monitor her contacts and location. Although the actor had initially denied the allegations, the Thane crime branch subsequently questioned Shamasuddin in connection with the CDR scam and confirmed that he had requested Nawazuddin's wife's CDR from attorney Rizwan Siddhiqui.

The case was brought to the public's attention in January 2018 when Thane crime branch unit 1 apprehended four private detectives for illegally vending CDRs. Those apprehended were Makesh Pandiyan, 42, Prashant Palekar, 49, Jigar Makawana, 35, and Samresh Jha, 32. They were believed to have sold the information for prices ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. A total of 16 individuals, including well-known detective Rajani Pandit and lawyer Rizwan Siddhiqui, were arrested in connection with the CDR scam but were later released on bail.

Tiku Weds Sheru Postponed:

In February, it was reported that due to his ongoing controversy with his wife, OTT platform Amazon Prime Video is aiming to steer clear of negative publicity that could potentially harm the film's reputation. Hence, the release of Tiku Weds Sheru has been postponed.

Therefore, it can be concluded that in recent years, Nawazuddin's talent has been overshadowed by the negative news surrounding him, which has garnered more attention than his professional commitments.

From filmmakers receiving threats to movies being cancelled on social media, Bollywood has already faced many challenging situations in the past four years and if a movie gets delayed it not only affects the actor but also impacts the entire team, which usually consists of 200-300 people who have worked hard to make the project successful.

Unlike star kids, as Nawazuddin does not have a powerful family background in the industry, he should next consider keeping a low profile for a while and refrain from airing his personal issues in public to prevent further damaging his promising career in Bollywood.
