Late actor Vinod Khanna and actress Madhuri Dixit found themselves at the centre of a major controversy in 1988 during the shooting of their film Dayavaan. Reports from that time alleged that while filming an intimate scene, Khanna 'lost control' and continued kissing Madhuri for several minutes even after the director reportedly shouted 'Cut'. The incident allegedly left a young Madhuri deeply shaken, both emotionally and physically, with accounts claiming she suffered a bleeding lip following the scene.

At the time of the shoot, Vinod Khanna was 41 and already an established star at the peak of his career, while Madhuri Dixit, just 20 years old, was still a newcomer trying to find her footing in the Hindi film industry. The scene in question required Khanna to kiss Madhuri as part of the script, but what was meant to be a brief on-screen moment reportedly turned into a deeply uncomfortable experience for the actress.

Although audiences were initially intrigued by the unconventional pairing, the film ended up making headlines for reasons far removed from its storyline or performances. Reports suggested that Madhuri was left aghast by the incident, sparking widespread debate and criticism at the time. The controversy surrounding the scene overshadowed the film’s release and remains one of the most talked-about and troubling incidents from that era of Bollywood.

According to reports, Vinod Khanna continued kissing Madhuri Dixit for nearly five minutes during the shoot of an intimate scene, even after Dayavaan director Feroz Khan repeatedly shouted 'Cut'. The situation reportedly escalated further when Khanna allegedly bit the actress on her lips, leaving her bleeding. Accounts from that time claimed that Madhuri was left deeply distressed by the incident and broke down inconsolably once the actor finally stopped.

Although Khanna later apologised to Madhuri for what had transpired, the controversy did not end there. In the aftermath, Feroz Khan reportedly received a legal notice demanding that the scene be removed from the film. Madhuri herself is said to have requested the director to not include the sequence in the final cut. However, despite the objections and legal pressure, Feroz Khan ultimately chose to retain the scene in the film, reportedly paying Rs 1 crore to do so.
