A tragic incident unfolded late Wednesday night in the DLF Phase-1 police station area of Gurugram, resulting in the death of a police constable on duty. Constable Ajay Singh was killed on the spot after being run over by a speeding dumper truck at a checkpoint located opposite the Gwal Pahari outpost.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 am when police personnel attempted to intercept a dumper truck travelling from Gurugram towards Faridabad. Instead of complying with the signal to stop, the driver accelerated and broke through the checkpoint barricades, mowing down Constable Singh. Following the collision, the accused abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled into the nearby forests to evade capture.
The deceased officer has been identified as 31-year-old Ajay Singh, a native of Umaroda village in Rewari district. He had joined the Haryana Police six years ago and was currently posted at the Gwal Pahari outpost.
In the wake of the incident, the police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the absconding driver. Multiple teams have been deployed to conduct search operations in the surrounding forest areas. Additionally, investigators are questioning the owner of the dumper truck to establish the identity of the driver and ensure a swift arrest.
