A district-level coordination committee meeting was held on Thursday in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Mr DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development. The primary focus was the progress of the metro extension, road connectivity, and essential civic amenities.

1. Cyber City Metro Extension Project

Land Acquisition Strategy Due to a significant shortage of land in the old Gurugram area and insufficient road width for developing corridors (either elevated or underground), the project heavily relies on land acquisition. To expedite this:

Committee Formation: The state government has formed a committee of 11 officials to directly negotiate with landowners.

Funding: The cost of acquisition will be borne by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL).

Status: Work on the extension began one month ago. The project will undergo periodic reviews to ensure swift progress.

2. Road Connectivity And Upgrades

New Connectivity Projects

- AIPL Mall (Sector 63A) to CRPF Camp: A decision was made to extend this road to provide crucial connectivity for CRPF personnel, police staff, and local residents.

- GSPR Connectivity: Discussions were held regarding connectivity from GSPR to PTS, the CRPF camp, and the jail complex. Land acquisition for this is currently underway.

Repairs And Maintenance (2026–27 Planning)

- Sectors 1 to 23: The patchwork estimate is Rs 3.65 crore and is currently in the approval process.

- Sectors 24 to 80: Tenders have been opened, with work allocation scheduled for December 2025.

- Special Repairs: A total of 90.16 km of road work is targeted for completion by March 2026.

Elevated Road (Vatika Chowk To Faridabad Road)

  • Assessment for additional land required at Vatika Chowk is in progress.

3. Water And Waste Management

- Rainwater Harvesting (RWH): A tender has been initiated to clean and repair 404 RWH systems in the MCG area. A directive was issued to make all systems functional by 31 December 2025.

- Master Stormwater Drain (Vatika Chowk to NH-48): Construction is in progress. Out of 4,622 metres, 2,570 metres have been completed. The target completion date is 30 June 2026.

- Water Supply: Discussions were held regarding additional water supply from the Sector 72 booster station.

4. Kherki Daula Toll Plaza Relocation

Status: Undecided No final decision was reached regarding the new location for the toll plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. While all parties agreed a decision is urgent due to significant delays, the matter rests with the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, pending consultation with security agencies.

Site Constraints And History

- Plan A (Pachgaon Junction): Cancelled due to villager protests demanding an underpass and flyover instead.

- Plan B (Sahrawan): Objected to by security agencies.

- Current Land Status: HSIIDC only has land available between Sahrawan and Pachgaon. Moving beyond this point would necessitate further land acquisition.
