Due to torrential rain in Gurugram, a section of the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) has collapsed because of erosion. This incident occurred on Tuesday in front of Suraj School, where along with the road caving in, electric poles also fell. It is being reported that the strong flow of water after the rain suddenly caused the road erosion. For safety reasons, the traffic police have placed barricades in that area. This is not the first time; in August of this year as well, a large lorry had an accident due to a road collapse on the SPR.

Flood in Kadarpur Village Due to Dam Breach

A flood-like situation has developed in Gurugram's Kadarpur village after a dam was damaged. The breach of this dam, which was built in 1961 for flood control, has led to severe waterlogging on the village roads. Upon receiving the information, Badshahpur's SDM, Sanjiv Singla, reached the spot to take stock of the situation. Villagers have alleged that encroachments made by some people in the area obstructed the flow of water, and the dam broke under its pressure. Meanwhile, a large number of local residents were also seen catching fish with nets in the water-filled streets.

Past Incidents of Road Collapse

The problem of road collapses on Gurugram's Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) has come to light many times before. Notably, in July 2025, a large section of the road had caved in after heavy rains, in which a truck laden with liquor was engulfed. At that time, the incident was caused by waterlogging from the heavy rain and a leaking sewer line, which had exposed the shortcomings of the city's infrastructure and raised serious questions about the administration's functioning. Today, a similar situation has once again arisen in front of Suraj School in Sector 78.
