Thieves broke into two flats in broad daylight at the Vijay Ratan Vihar Society in Gurugram's Sector 15, Part 2, on Friday. The burglars targeted flats number 360 and 363, stealing valuables and jewellery estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees.
The incident has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the society's security. According to a security guard, two young men entered the premises around 1:40 pm, claiming they were there to make a delivery. The theft occurred even though three to four security guards were posted at the main gate and the society is equipped with CCTV cameras.
The thieves specifically targeted flats that were locked. Shreya, who lives in flat 363 with her husband Umesh Kumar, explained that they leave for the day each morning to supervise construction on their new flat. When the couple returned home on Friday night, they found the lock on their door broken and their belongings scattered throughout the rooms. The cupboards had been completely emptied.
After the residents reported the burglary, a team from the Civil Lines Police Station, led by SI Mamta, arrived late at night to inspect the scene. A dog squad was also brought in to aid in the investigation.
