Gurugram traffic police have actively supported a three-day road safety campaign conducted in collaboration with Dainik Jagran, targeting overloaded and improvised vehicles (jugaad) on city roads.
During the campaign, drivers were made aware of traffic safety measures, and more than 2,500 vehicles were fined for violations. Officials also applied reflective tape to the rear of vehicles, placed crash tyre barricades, and closed illegal road cuts to improve safety.

According to DCP Traffic Dr Rajesh Mohan, Gurugram witnesses over 1,000 road accidents annually, resulting in more than 400 deaths, with numbers already crossing 435 this year. The traffic police are stepping up safety measures ahead of the foggy season, which typically sees a spike in accidents.
Meetings were also held with heavy vehicle drivers and Transport Union officials to instruct adherence to traffic rules. Dr Mohan said such campaigns will continue in the future to ensure safer roads in the city.
