The Department of Geology and Mining, UP, is set to implement a Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) for vehicles involved in transportation to curb the illegal transport of minor minerals. For this, the department has developed the portal vtsdgm.up.in, where vehicle owners are continuously registering and integrating the AIS-140 GPS devices installed in their vehicles.

Once implemented, the transport forms e-MM-11 and e-Form-C for the transportation of minor minerals will only be generated for those vehicles whose AIS-140 GPS devices are integrated with the departmental portal.

Secretary and Director of Geology and Mining, Mala Srivastava, has urged vehicle owners transporting minor minerals to register all their vehicles on the departmental portal and to ensure that the GPS devices installed on the vehicles are also integrated with the portal. The officials have warned that failure to do so will mean that forms for minor mineral transportation will not be issued in the future.

Action will be taken if a vehicle is found transporting minerals without GPS integration. For any technical support in this regard, the relevant district mining office or the Directorate of Geology and Mining can be contacted.
