The Crime Branch-2 of Yamunanagar has solved the murder case of Baljinder Kaur, the wife of the Sarpanch of Shyamapur village in the Sadhaura police station area.

The police claim that the murder on the night of December 24 was not committed by an outsider, but by the deceased's son, Gomit Rathi, along with his accomplice, Pankaj. The police have arrested both accused and produced them in court, which has remanded them to police custody for four days.

According to the police, information was received regarding the murder of Baljinder Kaur under suspicious circumstances in Shyamapur village on December 24, 2025. Following the incident, SP Kamaldeep Goyal formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The Crime Branch-2 team pieced together the sequence of events based on technical evidence, call details, and other investigative points.

The investigation revealed a long-standing family dispute between Baljinder Kaur and her son, Gomit Rathi. Due to this conflict, Gomit was sent to England about two years ago; however, the tension between the mother and son persisted.

Returned From England Without Informing Anyone

Police investigation further revealed that Gomit Rathi had secretly returned to India from England on December 18, 2025, without telling anyone. Only his accomplice, Pankaj, son of Kuldeep Singh and a resident of Shyamapur, was aware of his secret return. Pankaj assisted Gomit and kept his return to India a secret.

According to the investigation, on the night of December 24, 2025, Gomit Rathi quietly reached the village and hid in the cattle shed. Finding an opportunity late at night, he attacked his mother, Baljinder Kaur. She was killed by first being struck and then strangled.

Son And His Friend Arrested

After the murder, the accused threw the body into a water tank to make the incident appear as an accident or a suspicious death. Following the crime, the accused fled the scene.

Based on the investigation, the Crime Branch-2 Yamunanagar team arrested Gomit Rathi and his accomplice, Pankaj. Both were produced in court, where a four-day police remand was granted.

DSP Ashish Chaudhary stated that during the police remand, the accused will be interrogated intensively, and the items used in the murder will be recovered. The police are investigating all aspects of the case.
