Y Puran Kumar Suicide Case: Following the suicide of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur has been sent on leave. In his place, IPS officer Om Prakash Singh has been appointed as the acting DGP of Haryana.
On October 7, ADGP Y Puran Kumar allegedly shot himself in the head with his service revolver while being seated on a chair at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh. During the investigation, police recovered a “will” and a detailed suicide note in which the senior officer expressed deep dissatisfaction and highlighted job-related issues, pointing to the named officials as contributing factors to his distress.
A case has been registered against Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapur, Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, and 14 other officers who were named in a suicide note left by Y Puran Kumar.
A case has been registered against these officers under sections 108 (abetment of suicide), 3(5), 3(1)(r) of the Indian Penal Code, and the SC/ST Act.
Dalit Organistations, Wife Demadn Removal Of DGP Shatrujeet Kapur
Several Dalit organisations, Y Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amneet P Kumar, and Puran Kumar's MLA brother-in-law have been demanding the removal, arrest, and suspension of the Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police. The government has already transferred Rohtak Superintendent of Police, Narendra Bijarniya.
