Out of a total of 35 lakh weddings, 3.5 lakh are set to take place in Delhi itself. Over 1 lakh crore business is expected to be generated.
IPO India separately estimated the cost of a wedding to be around Rs 5 Lakh. Goa, Jaipur, Kerala and Shimla were among the famous destinations chosen for the wedding.
Besides weddings, the festive season will also play a key role in circulating money in the markets. This will lead to an increased demand for jewellery, sarees, furniture, ready-made garments, footwear, and other accessories, according to CAIT.
However, the expenditure on weddings the previous year was comparatively low ₹ 3.75 lakh crore. The survey in this regard was conducted by CAIT's research, reported news agency PTI. The survey was carried out in 35 cities with 4,302 traders and service providers.
