7th Pay Commission DA Hike: The Madhya Pradesh government has raised dearness allowance (DA) to 50 per cent from 46 per cent for its employees in a festive bonanza ahead of Diwali, effective from January 1, 2024, according to an official statement. The move comes days after the central government hiked dearness allowance for its employees by 3 per cent to 53 per cent of the basic pay.
“My congratulations to everyone as this joy of enhancement in DA has doubled as it has coincided with Diwali and the state’s Foundation Day on November 1,” Chief Minister Mohan Yadav told reporters. Undivided Madhya Pradesh was constituted on November 1, 1956 and Chhattisgarh was carved out of it on the same date in 2000.
CM Mohan Yadav said the state finance department approved 46 per cent DA in an order dated March 14, 2024. It was effective from July 1, 2023, and the arrears were paid in instalments.

“Now all government servants will be given 50 per cent DA from January 1, 2024,” he said.
Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, increased the dignity allowance (DA) by 3 per cent. Following the hike, Uttar Pradesh Government Employees will now get 53 DA; earlier, it was 50. This will benefit around 17 lakh state government employees. The Uttar Pradesh Government has recently announced a Diwali bonus as well.
