Aadhar Biometric Update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will carry out free Aadhaar biometric updates for children aged 7 to 15 years for one year. The temporary waiver, which began on October 1, 2025, is expected to benefit families having financial issues.
UIDAI has collaborated with Behavioural Insights Limited (BIT), a behavioural research organisation in this regard. Updates such as fresh fingerprints, iris scans and photographs must be completed by every child at the ages of 5 and 15.
As per UIDAI findings, parents showed delay in these major updates due to multiple reasons including inconvenience, confusion or lack of awareness.
Timely Aadhaar Update Is Mandatory: Here Are The Benefits
Ensuring that a child’s Aadhaar information is updated at the appropriate age helps maintain the accuracy and validity of their records. This is crucial because Aadhaar serves as a key identifier for accessing government schemes, official documents, educational benefits, and welfare programs. Timely updates prevent potential problems later when children need to avail these services.

Parents can update their child’s biometric data, including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, by visiting any authorised Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. The child’s Aadhaar number is required for the update, and a complete list of centres can be found on the Bhuvan Aadhaar portal.
