UIDAI aadhar card update limit: The Aadhaar card is one of the most essential documents for all Indian citizens. The card is provided by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and is vital for many purposes, including opening a bank account, issuance of a SIM card, and applying for a passport. It is important for the citizen to ensure that the details in the card are accurate, as an updated Aadhaar card ensures identity verification across multiple platforms.
While it is important for the citizen to ensure that the details in the card are accurate and updated, there are certain restrictions from UIDAI that everyone should be aware of.
How many times Aadhaar is released?
An Aadhaar card has a 12-digit unique number and is released only once in a lifetime. The user is not eligible to receive the card twice; however, changes can be made by UIDAI as per the issued guidelines.
Rule regarding change in name
UIDAI has imposed some restrictions when it comes to changing the name on the Aadhaar card. The name on the card can only be updated twice in their lifetime. Any further name changes require special approval from the regional UIDAI office, and they must be supported by valid documentation.
Rule regarding address change
A user can update their address an unlimited number of times as there is no restriction on it, unlike a change in name. The address can be changed through the UIDAI self-service portal (ssup.uidai.gov.in).

Rule regarding DOB and gender change
The rules are very strict when it comes to changes in date of birth (DOB) and gender, as the users are permitted to change them for only once in their lifetime. Any further change can be tough and requires special approval from the regional UIDAI office. Having accurate and updated information on Aadhar is a must for many services.
