The accused in the murder case of an IRS officer’s daughter, Rahul Meena, has been sent to police custody. The Saket Court in Delhi on Thursday granted four days of custody to the Delhi Police for further interrogation and investigation into the matter. During the court hearing, Meena admitted that he had entered the house to steal money and said, “It was my mistake, but I cannot say anything now.”

Ex-Help Says 'Made A Mistake'

According to news agency ANI report, when the judge asked Meena why he had broken into the house, he replied that he had entered the house to steal money. When questioned further about committing other offences, he said, “Mujhse apradh ho gaya... Galti ho gayi (I committed a crime, a mistake). The investigating officer said that jewellery and cash had already been recovered, but the accused still needed to be interrogated.

Meena had worked with the family for around eight months and was removed a month earlier over allegations of financial wrongdoing. According to the police, he was familiar with the house layout and the daily routine of the family. Meena was apprehended from an OYO hotel located in Delhi's Dwarka area on Wednesday.

Police said that he had entered the apartment using a spare key and went directly to the study room, where the victim was present. He demanded money from her, but an argument broke out after she refused. Meena allegedly warned her not to raise an alarm before launching a violent assault. The accused first attempted to strangulate the victim, after which she fell unconscious.

Post-Mortem Shows Severe Injuries

Meanwhile, the post-mortem report of a 22-year-old daughter of an IRS officer has revealed severe injuries to her body. Doctors found scratch marks on her hands, legs, and face, along with a broken nose and signs of a violent struggle. According to the preliminary findings, the victim died due to strangulation. Internal injuries, including fractures in the throat area, also confirmed asphyxiation as the cause of death.

Officials said multiple samples, including viscera and swabs, have been preserved forensic testing. The final post-mortem report is expected in the next two to three days.
