Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build 88 km long 6-lane access controlled Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway to boost connectivity between Agra in Uttar Pradesh and Gwalior, In Madhya Pradesh. NHAI signed a concession agreement for the implementation of the project in presence of NHAI Chairman, Santosh Kumar Yadav and senior officials of NHAI and the Concessionaire. The expressway will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) mode.
Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway Route
The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway will begin from Agra’s Deori village and finish at Gwalior’s Susera village. The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway project will be built at a capital cost of Rs 4613 crore, as per PIB.
The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway will go through Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. In addition to providing high-speed connectivity between Agra and Gwalior, the route will also help to decongest areas falling on the Agra-Gwalior Section of NH-44. The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway will reduce travel time and boost logistics efficiency of commercial and freight movement between Agra, Dholpur, Morena and Gwalior.
The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway also passes through the National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary. A cable-stayed bridge over the Chambal river will be constructed to protect the habitat of the endangered ‘Gadiyal’. Sound barriers and light cutters have been included in the design.
Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway will consist of eight major bridges, 23 minor bridges, six flyovers, one Rail-Over-Bridge and 192 culverts, as per PIB.
