In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old design student was raped by the security guard of the apartment she was living in Ahmedabad's Anandnagar area.
According to a report by Gujarati Jagran, the victim used to take a walk on the roof of the PG every night after dinner. On Saturday night, while she was walking on the terrace, the accused attacked her from behind. He threw a wire around her neck and strangled her, which caused her to collapse.
The accused then raped her for about an hour. The accused has been identified as Dharam Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi. He had joined the apartment as a security guard four days back. He fled the scene with the victim's mobile phone as she was lying unconscious. He closed the terrace door behind him.
It was only after she gained consciousness that she screamed for help, and the people living on lower floors rushed to help. The police were alerted immediately, which formed 10 teams, including LCB and crime branch, to investigate the matter and nab the accused.

On early Sunday morning, the accused was arrested. The victim was shifted to a hospital.
What did police say?
Sector 1 JCP Neeraj Badgujar said that the accused had first made advances by asking her for sex. When the girl refused, the accused raped her.
"The woman shouted for help after which people living on the fifth floor of the housing society opened the door of the terrace. Police responded to the incident immediately and registered an FIR," Badgujar said.
"Ten teams were formed from different police stations. These teams checked footage from all CCTV cameras in the vicinity, and ultimately tracked down the accused near Hebatpur in Thaltej. His medical tests have been done, and he is being interrogated," Badgujar further added.
