Ahmedabad Weather Forecast: The major parts of the city are currently facing hot weather, with relief in sight for Ahmedabad, Kutch and the Southern parts of Gujarat. According to the warning issued by the India Meteorological Department, the cyclonic system currently hovering over Maharashtra is expected to shift towards Gujarat in the next 48 hours. The weather phenomenon can lead to heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds.
Red Alert In Junagarh, Porbandar, Two Others
According to mausam.imd.gov.in, an IMD website dedicated to the nowcast of the weather, the red alert has been placed in Junagarh, Porbandar, Amreli, and Gir Somnath. The red alert has been issued for heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds at 60-87 kmph. There is an anticipation of 60 per cent of lightning in these areas.
The nowcast is from 1 pm to 4 pm for Wednesday. On the other hand, major southern parts have been put under orange alert, including Ahmedabad on May 21-22.
The weather shift was dramatic. After a scorching Tuesday with Ahmedabad sizzling at 41 degrees Celsius and humidity at 53%, the change brought much-needed relief.
Gujarat Weather Forecast
The IMD has also issued warnings for light to moderate thunderstorms and gusty winds in several districts of North Gujarat, including Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar.
Meanwhile, isolated pockets in South Gujarat, namely Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi, as well as Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, have also been placed under watch.
Key Saurashtra districts such as Surendranagar, Botad, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath have also been placed under alert, as all of which could see significant showers and wind activity in the coming days.
