Air India Milan- Delhi Flight: Hundreds of passengers travelling from Milan to Delhi ahead of Diwali faced disruption after Air India flight AI138 was cancelled on Friday due to a technical problem. Many passengers, returning home for the festival, were informed that they would now be rebooked on flights operating on or after October 20, the day of Diwali.

The NDTV report cited an Air India spokesperson as stating that, the cancellation was caused by “an extended technical requirement” on the aircraft scheduled for the journey, adding that the airline prioritised the safety of passengers and crew.

To accommodate stranded travellers, hotel arrangements and meals were provided. However, due to high demand and limited nearby availability, some passengers were placed in hotels outside the airport vicinity.

Passengers Rebooked On Later Flights

Air India confirmed that all affected passengers are being rebooked based on seat availability across its own and partner airlines. One passenger, whose Schengen visa was set to expire on Monday, was rebooked on an alternative flight departing on Sunday.

The airline apologised for the disruption, saying, “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew.”

This latest disruption follows a series of technical cancellations involving Air India aircraft earlier this year. On August 3, two Air India services, AI349 (Singapore–Chennai) and AI500 (Bhubaneswar–Delhi), were grounded due to maintenance and technical issues.
