The family of a 25-year-old Air India pilot, who died by suicide at her Mumbai home, alleged that her boyfriend used to humiliate her and extort money from her. Aditya Pandit, 27, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of abetment to suicide.

Srishti Tuli was found dead at her rented accommodation in Mumbai’s Marol after an argument with her boyfriend over the phone. She allegedly used a data cable to hang herself.

Pandit told police that he rushed to Tuli's flat, which was locked from the inside. A locksmith was called to open the door. Tuli was then taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead. No suicide note was found at the scene.

Srishti, who hailed from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, leaves behind a grieving family that is struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss. "They are saying she died by suicide, but I don't believe it. This is planned murder. She was strong, otherwise she would not be a pilot. We have come to know about her friend (Aditya), who started training with her but could not complete the course. He was jealous of her and would harass her," NDTV quoted Vivek Tuli, her uncle as saying.

According to the FIR, Srishti met Aditya during her training for commercial flying in Delhi. While she completed the course, Aditya dropped out. Srishti moved to Mumbai last year after getting her flying license. Aditya lives in Faridabad and often travelled to Mumbai to stay with her.
