People have been making a beeline for the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to collect the mortal remains of their relatives and family members killed in the Air India plane crash on Thursday. The hospital authorities have been handing over the bodies after DNA sampling.
As many as 241 persons on board the London-bound AI171 flight lost their lives after the aircraft crashed into the hostel complex of a medical college shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Only one person managed to survive the crash.

- DNA samples of 87 people have so far been matched at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, PTI reported citing officials. As many as 47 bodies have been handed over to the family members or relatives of the victims
- A team of experts from Boeing reached Ahmedabad on Monday to examine the details of the crash. The Air India aircraft, the 787 Dreamliner, was made by Boeing
- The probe teams have recovered the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) of the flight from the debris at the crash site. The SOS message recorded in the device would serve as a key breakthrough to ascertain the cause of the accident
- The family of Vijay Rupani, former Gujarat CM killed in the crash, has collected his mortal remains from the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and has departed for Rajkot for his last rites. He will be cremated with full state honours and Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to be present
- PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, reviewed the emergency response during a meeting with senior Gujarat government officials on Sunday. He hailed coordination between the state and the Centre
- Helpdesks have been established for insurance and compensation claims for the legal heirs of victims with the help of the Gujarat Government
- The high-level committee formed in the aftermath of the Ahmedabad plane crash to probe the incident will hold its first meeting in Delhi today, news agency PTI reported citing sources. The Union Home Secretary will chair the meeting
