The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation is facing strong opposition from its employees and officers over a large number of recent transfers, which they allege were carried out in violation of the state’s transfer policy. The Electricity Employees United Struggle Committee has announced a statewide protest on Monday, June 16, accusing the corporation’s management of arbitrary and unjustified transfers.

The committee also plans to hold a silent protest at the office of the Electricity Regulatory Commission at 4 PM the same day, alleging illegal actions linked to the privatisation of the power sector. The protest is being positioned as a symbolic expression of growing unrest among electricity employees over what they term as unilateral decisions by the corporation's leadership.

According to the committee, a substantial number of power employees have been transferred from one end of the state to another without adherence to any defined policy. They claim the move is a retaliatory step in response to employee resistance to privatisation plans. The committee further alleged that the Chairman of the Power Corporation is deliberately attempting to weaken the state's power infrastructure.

The Uttar Pradesh Power Officers Association has also raised concerns, stating that the transfers are not in line with the established policy and appear to be strategically aimed at facilitating privatisation. The association has demanded a high-level investigation into the matter.

President RP Kane, Acting President Awadhesh Kumar Verma, Vice President PM Prabhakar, and Additional General Secretary Ajay Kumar have jointly condemned the corporation’s directive to relieve transferred engineers even during holidays, warning that such moves could destabilise the state’s power supply system.
