Amarnath Yatra 2025: At least 36 pilgrims were injured in a major accident during the ongoing AmarnathYatra when four vehicles in a Pahalgam-bound convoy collided near the Chanderkote langar site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.
According to officials, the vehicles, all part of the Yatra convoy, lost control and crashed into each other due to brake failure. Rescue teams from the police and health department promptly reached the spot and shifted the injured pilgrims to District Hospital Ramban for medical treatment.
DC Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, DIG DKR Shridhar Patil, SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh, and ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak visited the hospital, closely monitored the treatment of the injured, and instructed the CMO to provide the best possible medical care. The affected Yatris were later accommodated in other vehicles to continue their onward journey.

Amarnath Yatra 2025
The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 3 and will continue until August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
Pilgrims trek to the revered Amarnath cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,888 metres in the Kashmir Himalayas, via two main routes, the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal route. Those opting for the Pahalgam route must pass through Chandanwari, Sheshnag, and Panchtarni, covering a distance of 46 km on foot to reach the cave.
On Saturday, another batch of 6,979 pilgrims set out from Jammu towards Kashmir under heavy security, officials said. This follows the ‘darshan’ of over 26,800 devotees at the holy shrine in just the first two days of the 38-day Yatra. The latest group departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in two escorted convoys comprising 312 vehicles. Of these, 2,753 pilgrims are en route to the Baltal base camp, while 4,226 are heading to the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam.
