Amit Shah Fake Video Case: The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of Delhi Police's Special Cell has summoned Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy in connection with the case pertaining to the circulation of a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's speech regarding reservation issues on different social media platforms, sources cited by news agency ANI said on Monday.

Revanth Reddy has been asked to appear before CCU officials on May 1, the sources informed, adding that he has been asked to appear with his mobile phone allegedly used for posting the fake video on X. An FIR in the matter was registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. In its complaint to Delhi Police, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had claimed that some doctored videos were being circulated by Facebook and Twitter users.

The video appears to be doctored with the intention of spreading misleading information to create disharmony among communities which is likely to affect public tranquility and public order issues, the MHA added. Notably, on April 23, Shah, while addressing a 'Vijaya Sankalp Sabha' in Telangana, had said that "unconstitutional muslim reservation would be abolished" if BJP comes into power in Telangana.

"I want to say this if the BJP forms a government then this unconstitutional muslim reservation will be abolished. These rights belong to SC, ST and OBC and it will be given to them by abolishing muslim reservation," he said. The MHA also attached a report with its complaint wherein it mentioned details of links and handles from which the purported doctored videos were being shared.
