Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the security forces have killed over 31 Naxalites in an operation conducted on the Kurraguttalu Hill (KGH) along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. 

He said the area was once the headquarters of the major Naxal outfits, adding that the largest anti-Naxal operation was completed in just 21 days.

“In a historic success towards the resolve of #NaxalFreeBharat, security forces have eliminated 31 notorious Naxalites in the largest operation against Naxalism to date, conducted on the Kurraguttalu Hill (KGH) along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The hill, once ruled by red terror, now proudly waves the tricolor. Kurraguttalu Hill was the Unified Headquarters of major Naxal organizations like PLGA Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC, and CRC, where Naxal training, strategy, and weapons were developed,” HM Shah posted on X.

Hailing PM Modi’s leadership, the Union Minister reiterated his commitment to eradicate Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026.

“This largest anti-Naxal operation was completed by our security forces in just 21 days, and I am immensely delighted that there was not a single casualty among the security forces in this operation. I congratulate the brave CRPF, STF, and DRG personnel who faced the Naxalites with courage and valor despite adverse weather and challenging hilly terrain. The entire nation is proud of you.Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri@narendramodiji, we are committed to eradicating Naxalism from its roots. I once again assure the countrymen that a Naxal-free India is certain by March 31, 2026,” he added. 

Over the past four months in 2025, security forces have eliminated 197 hardcore Naxalites during anti-Naxal operations. Over 928 Naxalites laid down arms in 2024, while 718 have surrendered in just the first four months of 2025.

Between 2019 and 2025, central security forces, working alongside state police units, have set up 320 camps across Naxal-affected regions. These include 68 helipads equipped for night landings. Additionally, the number of protected police stations has seen a substantial rise, from just 66 in 2014 to 555 as of now.
