Rohit Kumar, Chandigarh: The convoy of Ammy Virk, a popular singer and actor in Punjabi music and film industry, was fired upon in Canada's Abbotsford. In the incident that took place on McCallum Road after the 'Unity Tour' programme on the night of September 5, the attackers fired around seven rounds of bullets at a luxury car in the convoy.
Some reports claim that Ammy Virk and show's promoter may have been inside the car but they escaped unhurt. Abbotsford police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Attack Happened Around 11 PM
According to reports, Ammy Virk's performance was at the Rogers Forum Hall in Abbotsford. After the performance, he was returning with his convoy. Around 11 pm, attackers in a dark-colored SUV targeted the vehicle on McCallum Road. According to preliminary police, the attackers fled the scene after the incident.
Investigation Underway Into The Shooting Incident
Police are investigating the incident as a targeted attack. Authorities have not yet confirmed the involvement of any specific gang or individual in the attack. Police are working to determine the identity of the attackers, the vehicle used, and the motive for the shooting. Footage from surveillance cameras installed around the scene may also be a key part of the investigation.
The severity of the attack can be gauged from the fact that the attackers repeatedly fired multiple shots at the vehicle in the convoy. However, due to the vehicle being bulletproof, the bullets did not reach the people inside.

History Of Punjabi Singers Being Targeted In Canada
Punjabi music artists have been targeted in Canada in the past. In September 2024, shots were fired near AP Dhillon's Canadian home. There were also incidents of vehicles parked outside the house being set on fire. Responsibility for this incident was claimed by individuals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In November 2023, a shooting occurred outside the home of Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal in Vancouver's White Rock area, which also led to claims of a connection to Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Singer Karan Aujla claimed in an interview that he had received six shootings and multiple ransom threats while living in Canada. In 2019, his home in Canada was also hit by gunfire.
He later decided to live in Dubai for security reasons. In October 2025, Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon was also reported to have been targeted in a shooting in Canada.
Ransom And Gang War Angle
Criminal gangs operating in Canada have been accused of using their influence to threaten and extort money from artists associated with the Punjabi music industry.
Gangs like Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha have also been implicated in such incidents. In the case of Ammy Virk, the police have not yet officially confirmed the motive behind the attack or the involvement of any gang.
