Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off a new Vande Bharat Express train on Sunday, connecting Amritsar in Punjab with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. Operated and maintained by the Northern Railway zone, this semi-high-speed service aims to enhance passenger comfort, reduce travel time, and improve regional connectivity. The launch further expands the Indian Railways' Vande Bharat network, which now operates 144 services across the country.

Amritsar-Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express Train: Travel Time And Frequency

The Amritsar–Katra Vande Bharat Express, operating as train numbers 26405/26406, will complete the journey in just 5 hours and 35 minutes, offering a faster alternative to existing services on the route. The train will run daily, except on Tuesdays.

Amritsar-Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express Train: Key Stoppage 

The train will make halts at four intermediate stations, Beas, Jalandhar City, Pathankot Cantt, and Jammu Tawi, striking a balance between improved regional connectivity and maintaining a low overall travel time.

Amritsar-Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express Train: Ticket Price 

Train number 26406 (Katra-Amritsar) will depart Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) at 6:40 AM and arrive in Amritsar at 12:20 PM. For the return journey, the train will leave Amritsar at 4:25 PM and reach Katra by 10:00 PM. The service features eight coaches with two seating classes: AC Chair Car, priced at Rs 1,170, and Executive Chair Car, priced at Rs 2,085.

Vande Bharat Express Train 

Launched in 2019, the Vande Bharat Express marks a major advancement in India’s passenger train travel, renowned for its speed, comfort, and safety. These trains feature cutting-edge technology such as the Kavach automatic train protection system, rapid acceleration, automatic plug doors, CCTVs, and ergonomic reclining seats, offering passengers faster journeys, upgraded interiors, and modern onboard amenities that set a new benchmark for rail travel.

The new Amritsar-Katra service becomes the fifth Vande Bharat route serving Jammu and Kashmir, joining the existing New Delhi-Katra (22439/22440 and 22478/22477) and Katra-Srinagar (26402/26403 and 26404/26403) services.
