To ensure better connectivity, the Aqua Line metro extension plan of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) from Noida Sector 51 or Sector 52 to Greater Noida West (Knowledge Park V) will be tweaked as per the new alignment plan. Now, the Aqua Line Metro going towards Greater Noida West will connect with the Sector 61 Metro Station of the Blue Line Metro. Changes will also be made in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) scheme.
Up till now, the project made for the expansion of the Aqua Line, proposed to connect the Aqua Line Metro going towards Knowledge Park V with the Sector 52 Metro Station of the Blue Line Metro, for which the Aqua Line Metro was to be extended from Sector 51 towards Greater Noida West.
How Will It Benefit Metro Commuters?
The distance between Aqua Line Sector 51 station and Blue Line Sector 52 station is 430 meters. In view of this, the initial plan was to build a foot overbridge between the two stations for the convenience of the commuters but in such a case, passengers could face issues covering the distance on foot.

The NMRC in the backdrop of this issue proposed to build a travelator between the two stations but in the long run, it would not eliminate the connectivity problem. Earlier a travelator was built between Dhaula Kuan station of the Airport Express Line and Durga Bai Deshmukh station of the Pink Line Metro, however, it could not effectively eliminate the issues.
So, to put forth an effective solution, a revised DPR is being prepared which will look to alter the alignment for the proposed metro project expansion.
The DPR which awaits approval, will now connect the Aqua Line Metro going to Greater Noida West to the Sector 61 Blue Line Metro station which will save travel time for passengers and pedestrians will have to walk a lesser distance. It will also help in resolving any traffic snarl issues that could form at the junction of the Blue Line and Aqua Line.
