A Delhi Court on Wednesday turned down Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea seeking his bail extension by seven days on medical reasons, ANI reported. Besides, Kejriwal’s judicial custody has also been extended till June 19. The AAP supremo was produced virtually before the court.

The Court has directed the concerned authorities to conduct the required medical tests. Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in a money laundering case linked with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

Notably, Kejriwal was granted an interim bail by the Supreme Court for campaigning in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Election. He filed a plea before the apex court seeking an extension of his bail period by seven days on medical grounds. However, the top court denied listing his application asking him to move the trial court for bail.

The AAP supremo then moved the same plea in a Delhi court, where he was denied an immediate relief. Kejriwal had to return to jail, however, the order was reserved on his interim bail extension. Besides, he had also filed a regular bail plea. The court fixed his application for consideration on June 7.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed Kejriwal’s plea asserting that the latter was making false statements on his health condition.  Mehta said the applicant claimed he had lost seven-kilogram weight but in fact, he had gained one-kilogram weight during his stay in jail.

Kejriwal claimed he had lost 7 kg weight since he was lodged in jail. His Ketone level had gone very high and this could be the symptom of a serious disease. "The doctors of Max hospital is treating him at present," his plea read.
