Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Narendra Modi tendered his resignation as prime minister on Wednesday and is likely to take oath for the third consecutive time on Saturday, June 8. The final count for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was concluded on June 4, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing 240 seats and Congress 99. Despite not reaching the 272-seat majority on its own, the BJP will form the government with the support of its NDA allies. The NDA won 293 seats in the 543-member lower house of parliament while the INDIA bloc got 232 seats.

A key ally of Modi pledged support for him on Wednesday, strengthening his bid for a third term in office. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a major regional player in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, confirmed its backing of Modi and his party. "We are with the NDA, and I will be attending the meeting in Delhi today," TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu earlier told reporters. However, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar hasn't made any official statement regarding his support for the NDA. Kumar along with Chirag Paswan, and Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) National President Jitan Ram Manjhi will attend the NDA meeting, scheduled later today.
Narendra Modi has successfully retained his Varanasi constituency, defeating Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a margin of 1,52,513 votes. Modi bagged 6,12,970 votes while his rival got 4,60,457. This time, Modi's victory margin was significantly lower than his margins in the 2019 and 2014 elections. In the 2019 elections, Modi had a victory margin of 4,79,505, defeating SP's Shalini Yadav while Congress' Ajay Rai was the runner-up.
