Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest by the CBI in Excise Policy Case, news agency ANI reported. Besides, the court also reserved a verdict on the AAP supremo’s interim bail. Kejriwal’s regular bail plea will be taken up by the court on July 29.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Arvind Kejriwal, submitted that the latter’s arrest by the federal probe agency was ‘unnecessary’. Singhvi said Kejriwal was granted regular bail by a trial court under PMLA on June 20. It was only then that the CBI took orders to question him in judicial custody and arrested him on June 26.

Singhvi also cited the example of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was arrested in another case after being released. He asserted that the practice couldn’t be followed in India.

Kejriwal’s lawyer also expressed concern over Delhi CM’s deteriorating health in judicial custody. "His blood sugar has gone to 50 while sleeping. This is a cause of concern. Sugar levels dropping while the person is sleeping is dangerous. The person might not wake up. Please take a holistic view, a commonsensical view. Three orders are already in my favour," he said while seeking relief for his client.

The AAP supremo has been lodged in Tihar Jail since March 21 in a case linked with the Delhi Excise Policy. He was granted an interim relief by the Supreme Court to campaign for his party during Lok Sabha polls.

However, had to return to jail after his plea to extend relief was turned down. Later, the CBI arrested him, on June 26, after a trial court granted him bail in the ED case.
