The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that train services have been affected in various parts of the state. Short-distance trains have been canceled, but long-distance trains are still running. The number of people who have lost their lives in floods and landslides in the state this year has risen to 21. Sribhumi is the worst-affected district, with more than 2.15 lakh people affected.

The flood situation in Assam improved on Thursday, although more than 5.6 lakh people are still affected by floods across 12 districts. Two more people have lost their lives. As of Wednesday, 6.8 lakh people were affected by floods in 16 districts of the state.
Flood Situation in the Northeast
Kaziranga National Park in Assam is now submerged due to ongoing floods. However, the flood situation in Manipur has started to improve, with water levels in rivers beginning to recede. The Assam Rifles and the Indian Army continue to carry out rescue and relief efforts under Operation Jalrahat across the state. So far, more than 1.65 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Assam.
In contrast, Arunachal Pradesh continues to face a serious flood crisis. As of Thursday, over 33,000 people in 24 districts have been affected by continuous rainfall. This year, 12 people have died in the state due to landslides and floods. Several districts have reported fresh landslides in the past 24 hours.
According to reports, floods and landslides have impacted 33,200 people across 214 villages in different districts. Although many rivers and their tributaries are in spate, they are currently flowing below the danger level.
The natural disaster has caused widespread damage:
481 houses have been damaged across Arunachal Pradesh.
432 animals have died.
Seven people died in East Kameng district, two in Lower Subansiri, and one each in Longding, Lohit, and Anjaw districts due to flood- and landslide-related incidents.
In total, nine people lost their lives due to landslides, one due to flooding, one in a wall collapse, and one due to a tree falling during bad weather in Longding district in May. Four others were injured during these natural disasters.
The situation in Arunachal remains grim as authorities continue to monitor and respond to the crisis.
