Baba Siddique News: Baba Siddique was shot by unidentified assailants on October 12 at his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra. He was receiving treatment at Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Mumbai Police have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the shooting.This incident comes just ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Police officials reported that two to three gunshots were fired at Siddique. Investigations are currently underway, with teams deployed to the crime scene. Maharashtra Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with senior police officials, visited Lilavati Hospital to monitor the situation. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the incident as "extremely unfortunate." He stated, "Two suspects have been apprehended, they are from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. However, the third suspect is still on the run." Shinde assured the public that the police had been instructed to take strict measures against anyone undermining law and order. "I am confident that the Mumbai Police will soon locate the third suspect," he added, vowing that severe action would be taken against those responsible for the crime.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also expressed his condolences through a tweet, calling the attack “very unfortunate, condemnable and painful.” He shared his shock at Siddique’s death, stating, “I have lost my good colleague and friend. I strongly condemn this cowardly attack and offer my heartfelt tributes to Baba Siddique.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray described the murder as shocking, stating, “We pray for his soul to rest in peace and extend our condolences to his family and friends. This tragedy sadly reflects the law and order situation in Maharashtra and the complete collapse of administration.”

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “Baba Siddique's murder raises serious alarms. The government needs to form a special team for investigation. It appears to be part of a larger conspiracy and strict action must be taken.”

Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), questioned the safety of public figures in Mumbai, saying, “If former MLAs are not safe, how can the government protect ordinary citizens? Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis should resign if he cannot ensure the safety of leaders. The rise in crime in broad daylight shows that criminals have no fear, and the current administration has failed to maintain law and order.”

BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain tweeted, "Deeply saddened to hear about the tragic killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May the Almighty give them strength during this difficult time."
