Baba Siddique murder: In a revelation, the ossification test of Dharmraj Kashyap, one of the three accused in the NCP leader Baba Siddique murder case, has revealed that he was not a minor, officials said on Monday. The ossification test was conducted by the Mumbai police following an order from the Esplanade Court on Sunday.

An ossification test is a medical procedure that estimates the biological age of a person by analyzing the degree of the bone fusion. The Esplanade Court ordered a test after Dharmraj's lawyer claimed that he was a minor. While the accused claimed to be 17 years old, the prosecutor pointed out that the age on his Aadhar card was 19.

Following the results, Kashyap was remanded into police custody until October 21. "His lawyer claimed that he was a minor. The test was conducted, and it was confirmed that he is not a minor. He was produced in court, and the court has granted police custody till October 21," a police spokesperson said, as quoted by the Times of India.

Gurmail Singh, another accused in the Baba Siddique murder case, was sent to the Mumbai crime branch's custody till October 21. Police have claimed that the third shooter, identified as Shivkumar, is currently absconding, and the search operation for him is on.

Earlier, Baba Siddique, an ex-minister of Maharashtra and leader of Ajit Pawar's NCP, was shot dead in front of his son's office in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai. The murder sparked a massive row as several opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, and Uddhav Thackeray, claimed that the law and order in the state had collapsed and they sought the resignation of the Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde.

Shinde, in his response, claimed that a strict action will be taken against those who are involved in the case.
"The incident of Baba Siddique's murder is unfortunate and sad. Mumbai Police have arrested two persons—one from UP and the other from Haryana. The third accused is absconding... He will be arrested soon. They will not be spared, no matter who they are, be it the Bishnoi gang or any underworld gang. Strict action will be taken," he said.

Baba Siddique was an influential leader of Maharashtra and was known for his links with several Bollywood actors, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sanjay Dutt.
