Amidst the unrest, disturbance, chaos, and coup in Bangladesh, a large number of criminals have escaped from the Sherpur district jail. There are reports of some terrorists also escaping from the jail. According to information received, more than 500 prisoners have escaped from the prison after the rebels attacked it. In view of the situation, the Indian security agencies are also on high alert in view of the possibility of these criminals infiltrating and committing crimes. Vigilance is being maintained on the Indian borders adjoining Bangladesh.
The police of Pakur, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Rajmahal, and Sahibganj districts in Jharkhand bordering Bengal have been specially alerted. Security has also been increased at Singharasi Airbase in Pakur and Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.
The country's security agencies have issued an alert and said that terrorists and other criminals of the banned Islamic terrorist organisation Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansarullah Bangla Team have escaped from the jails of Bangladesh. These terrorists are trying to infiltrate the country via Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
West Bengal Borders Declared Sensitive
The alert said that members of the terrorist organisation could infiltrate India via Bangladesh and carry out a major incident. Charamrashi of Murshidabad district and Sasni border area of Malda district in Bengal have been declared sensitive.
Both these areas are very close to the Jharkhand border. Hundreds of Bangladeshis have already infiltrated and settled in this area.
Police Carrying Out Investigation
After the input from the agencies, Jharkhand Police is also on high alert. The Police Headquarters has issued instructions regarding special vigilance. At the same time, Jharkhand Police has started an intensive investigation campaign in the border areas.
The police have also asked the common people to be cautious. They have been appealed to immediately inform the police of their district if they see or get any information about any suspicious person or activity. The locals have been asked to give information on numbers 100 and 112.
