Durga Puja Bank Holidays: As we head into the festive season, banks across India will remain closed on multiple days between September 29 and October 5, 2025, in observance of major festivals like Navratri, Durga Puja, and Gandhi Jayanti. This upcoming week includes several national and regional holidays, so it’s important for customers to plan their banking needs in advance.

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks including the State Bank of India (SBI) will not operate in certain states on specific days. These holidays differ depending on local customs and regional festivals. Besides these specific days, banks are also routinely closed on all Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

List Of Bank Holidays: September 30 To October 5

- September 30 (Monday): Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi for Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami, one of the most important days of Durga Puja and Navratri.

- October 1 (Tuesday): Several states will see bank closures due to Dussehra, Ayudha Pooja, and Durga Puja. These include Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Kerala.

- October 2 (Wednesday): Banks across the country will remain closed in honor of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, as well as Dasara, Vijaya Dashami, Dussehra, Durga Puja, and Janmotsav of Sri Sri Sankardeva.

- October 3-4 (Thursday and Friday): In Sikkim, banks will stay closed for Durga Puja (Dasain) celebrations.

- October 5 (Sunday): As usual, all banks will be closed across India for the weekly Sunday holiday.

Will Online Banking Services Be Affected?

While these closures might cause some delays in physical banking or cheque clearances, customers can continue to access core services via digital platforms. Here's what will still be available:

-> Online and mobile banking for transactions, balance checks, and bill payments

-> NEFT and RTGS services for fund transfers

-> ATM access and debit/credit card usage

-> Online services like chequebook requests, demand drafts, and other account-related features

Even though branches will be closed, users are encouraged to utilize these digital tools to avoid disruption during the holiday period.
