Banks Closed Today: On April 29, 2025, banks will be closed in designated areas due to local festivities. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list, banks in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, will be closed in observance of Bhagvan Shri Parshuram Jayanti. This holiday falls under the category of holidays established by the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Customers planning to visit a bank today are advised to confirm whether their local branch is open. As today is not a gazetted public holiday, most banks will continue to operate across most states.
Karnataka Bank Holiday
Additionally, banks in Bengaluru, Karnataka, will be closed on April 30 for Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya. Customers in this region should also plan their banking activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
RBI Bank Holiday Category
The Reserve Bank categorises bank holidays into three types: holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act & Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and account closing holidays. The holiday on April 29 belongs to the first category.

May 29: Banks in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh will remain closed for Maharana Pratap Jayanti.
