Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday met the family of the minor victim in the Baruipur rape and murder case in South 24 Parganas, along with the family of Indrajit Mondal, who was allegedly lynched by an angry mob.

A cheque of Rs 25 lakh as financial assistance was handed over to Indrajit Mondal’s family. His elder brother was also provided a job as a civic volunteer at Suryapur police station.

The Chief Minister said that the state government stands firmly with the victim’s family. During his visit, Adhikari also inaugurated a new police outpost in Suryapur. He said the victim’s family had requested the police outpost four days ago, and it was completed in record time.

After meeting the minor’s family, Adhikari visited Indrajit Mondal’s residence. He alleged that the 35-year-old man was not killed by a mob lynching but was killed after being identified. The Chief Minister claimed that certain political groups, far-left organisations and radical elements may have played a role in provoking the incident following their electoral defeat.

“The brutal killing of Indrajit Mondal, after identifying him and his details, was orchestrated by those who wish to destabilise Bengal now that the government is advancing on the path of progress and development under PM Modi's leadership. They aim to derail this momentum,” the CM said.

He added that all those identified through video footage have been arrested.

Adhikari said the government has taken responsibility for supporting Indrajit’s family. He stated that their house has been repaired, while his father’s old-age pension and his mother’s Annapurna Yojana benefits have also been started.

“Indrajit cannot be brought back, but his killers will face the strictest punishment under the law,” the Chief Minister said.

Speaking about incidents of railway line damage, Adhikari said, "There is certainly instigation by some politically rejected individuals. Radical forces or ultra-left elements could also be involved. The police are investigating this. We are apprehending those who were present at the scene, as well as those who incited the situation from behind the scenes via mobile phones and messages.”

He said that only criminals involved in murder, rape and vandalism should fear the law, not ordinary citizens.

Government To Support Kamduni Case In Supreme Court

The Chief Minister also spoke about the Kamduni rape and murder case, saying that the state government will now provide legal assistance to the victim’s family in the Supreme Court.

He clarified that the government will not oppose the case and assured that every possible step will be taken to ensure justice. Adhikari said the matter would not be ignored and promised action to secure justice for the victim’s family.
