Bengal Crime: A man beheaded his sister-in-law in the South 24 Parganas district of Bengal, then proceeded to stroll the streets with the head and the weapon until turning himself in to the authorities at the Basanti authorities station.

After apprehending the accused, Bimal Mondal, the police are now questioning him to determine the reason for the act.

Officials believe that a family disagreement led to the murder of Sati Mondal, a woman who was married to the accused's older brother.

“We suspect a family feud may have led to the chilling murder. He showed no remorse when he surrendered before us. He was carrying both the severed head and the murder weapon. His behaviour suggests he is not in a normal state of mind," a district police official was quoted as saying by IANS.

An eyewitness quoted by IANS said that the accused appeared so enraged that no one went to intervene. As he marched around the streets with the severed head, he was also cursing the victim.

“He screamed that he had paid back for the injustice done to him for so many years. His rage was so intense that no one dared to stop him while he was roaming around with the weapon and the severed head, though some passers-by captured the video on their mobile phones," said an eyewitness.

The incident has shocked the residents. Another person living in the area reported that the victim and the accused had had regular disagreements in recent days. The individual further stated that the accused had intimidated the victim.
