Bengal Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rain in North Bengal as the monsoon axis is spreading over the region. South Bengal districts are also likely to witness storm activity throughout the week.
Apart from this, another low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal.

South Bengal Weather

As per the weather body, light to moderate rain is expected in North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia and Midnapore on Tuesday. If the low pressure area develops again, the intensity of storms and rain will increase across South Bengal.

North Bengal Weather

Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have been issued in several districts of North Bengal for Tuesday.

Extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Coochbehar districts of North Bengal. Heavy rain is expected at one or two places over North Dinajpur district of North Bengal.

Kolkata Weather Update

Kolkata has been partly cloudy since Tuesday morning. As per the weather body, light to moderate rain is likely in the city today. A local thunderstorm hit Kolkata on Monday, bringing much needed respite from the humid weather. The intense showers also caused waterlogging in several areas.
