Bengal Weather: The Alipore Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in North and South Bengal districts for two days, starting Friday. Thunderstorms and rain are also likely in Kolkata. The City of Joy witnessed heavy rain on Thursday. The weather body has issued a red alert in some districts of North Bengal on Friday. From Sunday, the conditions are expected to become dry.

Cyclone Montha has moved further north-northwestwards from South Chhattisgarh as a depression and has developed into a distinct low pressure area. The remnants will move further northwards in the next 24 hours and will lose strength and develop into a general low pressure area.

North Bengal Weather

October 31: Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at a few places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Alipurduar districts with extremely heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Jalpaiguri district. These districts are on a red alertHeavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur districts meanwhile heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over South Dinajpur and Malda districts of North Bengal. Thunderstorms with gusty wind and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of North Bengal.

November 1: Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts of North Bengal.

South Bengal Weather

October 31: Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum and Murshidabad districts. Thunderstorms with gusty wind and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of South Bengal.

November 1: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over North and South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore and Nadia districts; at a few places over rest of the districts of South Bengal. Thunderstorms, gusty wind and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over North and South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore and Nadia districts of South Bengal.
