Bengal Weather: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata has forecast heavy rain in South and North Bengal districts amid the festivities of Vijaydashmi, also known as Dussehra on Thursday. As per the weather forecast, Kolkata will be hit by heavy rain on October 2. The weather body has issued a yellow alert in this regard.

Rain activity was witnessed in some parts of Kolkata on the night of Ashtami and Navami. However, it rained only for a brief period. On Navami, the maximum temperature in Kolkata was around 30 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius with high humidity.

“Low Pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal became well marked during early morning on October 1 and moved north-northwestwards. It is likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression. Continuing to move further north-northwestwards, it is likely to intensify further into a deep depression and cross South Odisha- North Andhra Pradesh coasts during early morning of October 3, RMC, Kolkata stated in its bulletin on Wednesday.

South Bengal Weather

October 2: Heavy to very Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore districts of South Bengal. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata and Howrah. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, Jhargram, Bankura, Hooghly and Purulia districts of South Bengal.

October 3: Heavy to very Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Purulia and West Burdwan districts of South Bengal. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over East & West Midnapore, Jhargram, South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Murshidabad, East Burdwan and Bankura districts of South Bengal.

October 4: Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum and Murshidabad districts of South Bengal.

North Bengal Weather

October 2: Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal.

October 3: Heavy to very Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, North Dinajpur and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal. Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malda & South Dinajpur districts of North Bengal.

October 4: Heavy to very Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, North Dinajpur and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal. Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malda & South Dinajpur districts of North Bengal.
