Bengal Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of West Bengal are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till Friday. The weather department added that the coastal regions are expected to receive heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. It further stated that the continuous rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Bengal weather: These districts to witness rainfall till August 15

- The weather department stated that several districts, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall till Friday morning. “The sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall till Friday morning,” the IMD stated in its bulletin.

- Apart from these districts, the Southern region is also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next two days.

- The weather department stated that these regions will receive rainfall due to formation of a low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal, adding that it is likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts by Friday.

- Several districts of north Bengal, including Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri have received light to heavy rainfall for the last two to three days. The continuous rainfall has also led to waterlogging in key areas of Kolkata and other cities. The rainfall is likely to continue in the capital city for few more days.

- The weather department has advised the residents to carry umbrella, limit the unnecessary outings and follow the guidelines to avoid inconveniences.

Apart from West Bengal, several other states, including Telangana, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are also likely to witness rainfall for the next few days.
