Bengal Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several districts of West Bengal are likely to witness light to heavy rain for the next few days. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain, adding that the other regions are set to witness light to moderate rain. The continuous rain is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that the Northern districts are set to witness heavy rain till September 2. It further stated that several districts, including Darjeeling are also likely to experience thunderstorms and strong surface winds. The IMD also stated that the residents of the low-lying areas are expected to witness waterlogging, leading to inconveniences.

The weather department further stated that multiple southern districts, including South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, and Kolkata are expected to receive heavy rain till September 5. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in several cities. The IMD has advised the residents of both the regions to avoid goin near the areas expected to witness waterlogging.
The IMD further stated that the capital city Kolkata is also likely to witness light to heavy rain for the next few days. It further stated that the residents are expected to witness cloudy skies and gentle breeze at least till September 5. While the maximum temperature of Kolkata is likely to be calculated at 34 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius. The IMD has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies for the next few days.
