Bengal Weather News: The deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, moving towards Chhattisgarh after Odisha, has led to severe rainfall in major parts of Bengal.With its latest weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department, the rainfall to continue for the next few days, with the northern region to receive heavy rain.
A low-pressure system is bringing significant water vapour into North Bengal, leading to a spell of heavy rainfall in several districts. Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. The upper districts will see an increase in rainfall starting tomorrow, with multiple areas in North Bengal forecasted to receive heavy rain on Saturday.
South Bengal Weather Update: Rain To Recede, Alert For Thunderstorms
- In its latest weather forecast bulletin, the India Meteorological Department has placed all the South Bengal districts on a yellow alert for thunderstorms, gusty winds at 30-40kmph, and lightning.
- A few other districts, like West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, East Bardhaman, West Bardhaman, and Murshidabad, have been placed under a yellow alert for heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 11cm at isolated places and thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40kmph.
- One of the south Bengal districts, Bhirbhum, has been placed under an orange alert for very heavy rainfall ranging between 7cm and 20 cm at isolated places.
- The Weather in South Bengal is likely to remain similar till October 7, with a number of districts on yellow alert decreasing to 4 on October 8.
- The weather conditions in Southern Bengal will return to normal, with the possibility of light rain at very few places from October 9.
North Bengal Weather News: Rain To Intensify
- The northern district of West Bengal is expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall with an orange alert today, escalating to a red alert tomorrow, on Sunday.
- Jalpaiguri and Alipuduar districts of Northern Bengal have been placed on red alert on Sunday, October 5, for extremely heavy rainfall of more than 20cm at one or two places. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
- Rain is likely to recede in North Bengal from October 7, with the number of districts on alert will reduce to two, with Coochbehar and Aliduapur placed on a yellow alert for heavy rainfall at one or two places.
